What we collect
- Your ad. The copy, script, or listing you paste, plus any creative image or audio you upload.
- Your email, if you create an account or join the launch list.
- Anonymous counters — how many roasts happen, in which format, at which intensity. Never the ad content itself.
No tracking cookies beyond standard analytics. The only cookie we set ourselves is the sign-in session cookie.
Where your ad goes
To generate a roast, your ad is sent once to an AI provider: OpenAI for Medium rare roasts and all Pro rewrites, xAI (Grok) for Extra Burnt roasts. Uploaded audio is transcribed by OpenAI. Under both providers' API terms, API inputs are not used to train their models.
If you're not signed in, we never store your ad — it's processed and returned, and that's it. If you are signed in, we save the roast and the ad to your history so you can revisit it. You can delete any roast from your account panel anytime. We never show your ad to another person.
Accounts and billing
Sign-in is passwordless — we email you a one-time link. We store your email, a hashed sign-in token, and a hashed session id; never a password. If you subscribe to Butter Pro, Stripe handles payment and stores your card; we only keep your Stripe customer id and whether your subscription is active. Cancel anytime from the billing portal.

Your choices
Delete individual roasts from your account panel. Want your whole account wiped? Email Howard and it's gone.
